David Dominy

Leading financial management in Canada

David Dominy is a University of Winnipeg alumnus (BA 78) and CEO of FIRMA Foreign Exchange Corporation, one of Canada’s leading non-bank foreign exchange brokers with offices in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Dominy attended UWinnipeg on a full scholarship and completed his undergraduate studies in three-years with a major in mathematics and minors in economics and history. He also holds a Masters of Management from the J.L.Kellogg School of Management in Chicago; in addition to the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and the CSC accreditation from the Canadian Securities Institute.

He has extensive senior management experience in several industries, including financial services, private equity, oil and gas services, transportation, and production. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, corporate finance, commercial banking, board governance, risk management, financial industry regulation, and oil and gas services.

Dominy has an extensive board career that includes leadership roles on not-for-profit, private, public, and crown corporation boards. Currently he sits on the boards of the Alberta Insurance Council, Norquest College, Chandos Construction, and is a member of the University of Alberta’s SME advisory committee, where he is also an instructor in the governance program.

He is an active contributor to a number of charities, most recently as chair of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton, Alberta, where he currently resides.
