Biography:
Dr. Ray Silvius is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Winnipeg. He publishes in the areas of international political economy, international relations, critical political economy, cultural political economy, and Russian political economy. Dr. Silvius’ work focuses on the question of whether we are witnessing the emergence of a post-hegemonic world order and, if so, what are the political, economic, social and cultural dimensions of this new order. He is particularly interested in the ways in which emerging non-Western political economies are articulated through the language of civilizational distinctiveness. He is also undertaking a funded three year project to examine how the housing and social outcomes of refugees in a Canadian inner-city contribute to disciplinary understandings of globalization, neoliberalism, scale, social cohesion, inter-culturalism and social reproduction.
