Science Student Wins $5,000 Tuition Credit

The winner of The University of Winnipeg’s Student Recruitment Department tuition credit draw for 2023 is Brooke-Lynn Clarke. Congratulations Brooke-Lynn!

Brooke-Lynn is a Faculty of Science student, majoring in Physics and minoring in Psychology. After completing her Bachelor of Science, she plans to enter the Faculty of Education’s after-degree Bachelor of Education program with the goal of becoming a science teacher.

“I chose UWinnipeg because of its Education program,” said Brooke-Lynn.

She comes to UWinnipeg after graduating from Miles Macdonell Collegiate, where her own physics teacher, who frequently discussed university course material in class, influenced her.

“He was teaching while he was learning...taking university classes at the same time he was teaching us," she said. "That really inspired me”.

The first-year student, who entered the annual tuition credit draw by filling out a contact card when a UWinnipeg recruiter visited her high school, had just returned from a short trip when she learned that she had been randomly selected to receive the $5,000 credit.

“It was a nice surprise,” she said.

The tuition credit prize will be a valuable boost to Brooke-Lynn’s first year of study.

“She’s worked so hard,” said her father, who was thrilled that his daughter had won the prize. “I was jumping for joy.”

All prospective UWinnipeg students are eligible for the annual tuition credit draw. Students entering UWinnipeg in Fall 2024 can enter next year’s draw by filling out a contact card at a UWinnipeg presentation or event or by registering for a virtual information session.

Visit UWinnipeg Presentations to attend a presentation virtually, or speak with your school counsellor about when a UWinnipeg rep will be visiting your high school.

And don’t forget to join us to fill out a ballot in person at Future Student Night on Tuesday, November 28, at 6 p.m. in the Duckworth Centre!
