The Global Welcome Centre for Permanent Residents

The Global Welcome Centre (GWC) provides academic support services that help permanent residents succeed in adult education and post-secondary. The GWC was established at The University of Winnipeg in 2007 and is under the umbrella of The English Language Program. The GWC is funded by Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada, and its programs and services are offered at no cost.

The GWC supports permanent residents that are attending or planning to enroll in:

  • Adult education
  • Settlement and training programs
  • Language training programs
  • College
  • University
  • Professional training programs
  • Bridging programs

To be eligible for The GWC's programs and services individuals must provide proof of:

  • Permanent resident status
  • Provincial Nominee status with a Letter of Approval from Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada
