Horizontal (lateral) filing cabinets are wider than they are deep and typically have 2, 3, or 4 drawers. Drawers come in a variety of widths ranging between approximately 76cm to 111cm.

Open shelving can be any width.

Records storage boxes (e.g. Bankers Boxes) are typically 30cm wide and 25cm high, with a depth of 38cm.
