Riddell Hall Painting Conservation
Public talk on conservation and history of Riddell Hall paintings: November 28, 2018 at 12:30 pm in Gallery 1C03
Visit Gallery 1C03 on November 28 to meet conservator Mary DeGrow who is cleaning three of the large paintings that have been displayed in Riddell Hall for many years. After they are cleaned, the paintings will be re-hung in Riddell with new encased frames to protect them for many years to come. These paintings -- created by well-known Manitoba artists Caroline Dukes and Tony Tascona -- are among a select few in the University of Winnipeg art collection that have been designated by the federal government as being of "outstanding significance and national importance."
During the talk, Mary DeGrow will discuss artwork restoration techniques and University Art Curator Jennifer Gibson will speak about the artists who made these paintings.
The University of Winnipeg gratefully acknowledges financial assistance for this conservation project from the Government of Manitoba.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Wheelchair accessible.
