September 10, 4:00 - 6:00 pm CST on Zoom
Limited to 25 participants. This event is now full.
Gallery 1C03 is pleased to partner with the University of Winnipeg Students' Association for their Roll Call back-to-school event to offer a free painting workshop for University of Winnipeg students. The workshop will be led by artist and educator Ruby Bruce and features Traditional Knowledge Keeper, Marika Schalla, as a guest speaker. This two-hour session will explore the concept of interconnection that is central to the worldviews and ways of knowing of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. This ideology reinforces the notion that everyone and everything has a purpose, is worthy of respect and care, and has a place in the grand scheme of things. This workshop gives participants the opportunity to create a visual representation of interconnection while also learning a brief overview of this ideology and connecting to it through painting, storytelling, and sharing their own ideas and thoughts on interconnection.
