Indigenous Makers Market: Call for Submissions

Gallery 1C03, in partnership with the University of Winnipeg's Office of Indigenous Engagement, Indigenous Student Services Centre and Indigenous Students Association, is pleased to organize an Indigenous Makers Market!

WHO: This call is open to Indigenous makers, including Indigenous makers who are UWinnipeg students and staff.

WHAT: All media are accepted: examples may include beadwork, embroidery, quillwork, needlecraft, quilt work, moccasins, jewelry, regalia, photographs, prints, paintings, drawings, cards, ceramics, glass, woodworking, bath and body products. Work must be of original design; it may be functional, decorative, or conceptual. No food please.

WHEN: The market will take place Thursday, November 28, 2024, 12:00 - 8:00 pm

WHERE: The University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Avenue
Tables will be set up on the first floor of Centennial Hall in front of Gallery 1C03, beside the Student Info Booth, and in the atrium in front of Riddell cafeteria.

COST: There is no table fee. Makers can choose a full table or a half table. Tables are 6' x 2 1/2'. We have capacity for 18 tables. Makers receive 100% of any sales made.

APPLICATION FORM DEADLINE: October 27, 2024

NOTIFICATION TO APPLICANTS: November 1, 2024

Accepted makers are expected to be on-site for the entire market ready to sell at the opening of our market and throughout the duration of the market. Arriving late for set up or shutting down early disrupts the flow of the event. Please use the comments section if you are asking for special accommodations.

Gallery 1C03 and partners will promote the market through their websites, e-newsletters, and social media networks. All participating makers are encouraged to promote the market widely through their social media and personal networks as well. Digital promotional materials for the show will be sent to all participating makers.

We require a minimum number of makers to fill at least 4 tables. If we do not meet this number, we will have to cancel the market.
