"What to Expect in Law School": A frank conversation with Melissa I. Cattini, award winning law associate and former Robson Hall and UW Criminal Justice Honours student”
The talk will feature:
- UW Criminal Justice professor Dr. Richard Jochelson B.Sc, LL.B (U of Calgary Law, Gold Medal), LL.M. (U ofToronto Law), PhD (Osgoode Hall, York University), Member of the Manitoba Bar, and
- Melissa I. Cattini, an associate at Aikins Law and 2015 winner of the prestigious A. Montague Israels, Q.C. Prize.
This talk will introduce prospective law school applicants to the secret life of law students. Most law school preparation lectures describe the rigours of the law school application process and the competitive nature of admissions. Few conversations discuss the experiences of attending law school and the prospects afterward. Following a brief introduction of the speakers, we will explore, through interview format, the experience of the speakers in law school, the unexpected challenges of law school, the role of pre-law education in law school performance, and the possible outcomes after law school.
