Arts hosts New Faculty Orientation
Fri. Aug. 14, 2015
This year, it was the turn of the Faculty of Arts to host the New Faculty Orientation. The event was held on Thursday, August 13 and included new Regular Academic Staff (RAS) and Contract Academic Staff (CAS) members from the Faculties of Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Science, and the Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health. The afternoon session was for RAS members and included speakers on the topics of online teaching, tenure & promotion, teaching dossier, and research, ending with a panel with representatives from each of the professorial ranks.
After a dinner catered by Homer’s Restaurant, new CAS members joined the group to look at topics of interest to both RAS and CAS members: Human Resource services, Student Services, Library Services and Copyright, UWFA, Student Appeals and Academic Misconduct.
Draws were held through-out the afternoon and evening for complimentary tickets to Winnipeg museums (the Manitoba Museum, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights), theatres (the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, the Prairie Theatre Exchange), and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. The Winnipeg Wesmen provided day passes for each of the new faculty members to try out the fitness facilities. Homer’s Restaurant and Garbonzo’s Pizza Pub provided discount vouchers for all.
Thanks to all those who participated!
