Biography:

Maureen A. Kilgour, PhD, is a Professor in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg. She is a co-founder and co-chair of the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education Working Group on Gender Equality and was a member of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles Leadership Group from 2011 to 2018.

Professor Kilgour teaches in the area of management of organizations, including courses on business ethics, organizational behaviour, business and human rights, and human resource management. She enjoys the interdisciplinary approach of the FBE at the University of Winnipeg as well as the diversity of the student body.

Her current research focusses on gender inequality, business and human rights, corruption, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and corporate responsibility. She has co-edited three books: ‘Integrating Gender into Business and Management Education’(Routledge 2015);‘Overcoming Challenges to Gender Equality in the Workplace: Leadership and Innovation’ (Routledge 2016) and ‘Gender Equality and Responsible Business: Expanding CSR Horizons’ (Routledge 2016).  Recent publications include book chapters on Canada’s Feminist Foreign Policy and the SDGs (Routledge 2020 forthcoming) and on Gender Equality in Higher Education (Sage 2020).

Prior to becoming an academic, Professor Kilgour worked in the area of industrial relations and workplace discrimination as a negotiator and advocate across Canada. She oversaw the implementation of pay equity in the health care sector in Manitoba and worked on affirmative action policies for government. She has consulted for a wide range of organizations, including child-care and health care centres, governments and non-profit organizations. 

In addition to work, Professor Kilgour enjoys music, hiking, nature, literature and travel, and so much more.
