Unmasking Transphobia, Building Transpositive Solidarities

On Friday, March 31, 2023, CRiCS hosted a special roundtable titled, "Unmasking Transphobia, Building Transpositive Solidarities." Organized by Jason Hannan (UW, Rhetoric) in response to recent events on campus, this virtual roundtable featured Misha Pensato (Trans Writer & Activist), Lara Rae (Trans Comedian, Instructor, & Writer), Noah Schulz (Trans Instructor & Researcher), and CRiCS member Peter Ives (UW, Political Science). The speakers addressed the problem of surging transphobia across the globe, the guises under which it hides, and a path for building transpositive solidarities at this historical moment.

CRiCS has collaborated with the Centre for Human Rights Research at the University of Manitoba to publish Unmasking Transphobia, Building Transpositive Solidarities as a special issue of At the Forks. The issue is based on the talks originally given for the CRiCS roundtable and is guest edited with an introduction by former Acting Director and CRiCS member Jason Hannan.
