Peter Melville Publishes Two Journal Articles on Fantasy Literature

Peter Melville has published an essay on Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn trilogy in Studies in the Fantastic. The essay, entitled “Revolutionary Subjectivity in Sanderson’s Mistborn Trilogy,” considers the trilogy’s depictions of revolutionary activism in light of Alain Badiou’s thinking on the militant subject’s commitment to a cause and Slavoj Žižek’s distinction between “weak” and “strong” thought. The essay, entitled “Witnessing the ‘Unwitnessed’ in Steven Erikson’s The Malazan Book of the Fallen,” considers the role of witnessing as a central preoccupation and theme of Steven Erikson’s The Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
