Wed. Oct. 25, 2017
The Six Seasons of the Asiniskow Ithiniwak collaborative project will celebrate its official launch on Friday, October 27 with a public presentation at 1 p.m. in Leatherdale Commons. Recently awarded a $2.5 million SSHRC Partnership Grant, the multi-year project works with northern Manitoba’s Asiniskow Ithiniwak (Rocky Cree) to reclaim their history by revitalizing their stories of cultural identity. The project involves numerous partners from Rocky Cree communities, universities, educational organizations, museums, schools, and business, including the English Department’s Dr. Mavis Reimer as Project Director and Dr. Doris Wolf as Curriculum Team leader. The presentation will be given by the Archaeology Team leaders, Kevin Brownlee, Curator of Archaeology, The Manitoba Museum, and Dr. Scott Hamilton, Professor of Anthropology, Lakehead University: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tzpk4g9wayuu4gj/Archaeology%20Research%20Circle%20Poster.pdf?dl=0.
