Biography:
Iian was born and raised in Winnipeg. He studied mathematics, with a side of philosophy, as an undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba and then went on to complete graduate degrees in mathematics at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. He has held postdoctoral positions at Rutgers University in New Jersey and the University of Michigan before returning home to join the University of Winnipeg as an Assistant Professor in 2022. Besides his love for mathematics and teaching, Iian is an avid cyclist, music listener, and vinyl record collector.
Research Interests:
Iian's research interests are in set theory (the study of the infinite), mathematical logic (the study of the language of mathematics), and their applications to other parts of mathematics.
