Fiona Slota

Fiona Slota My name is Fiona Slota. I am an education assistant in Winnipeg with over three years of experience. I have the honour of working in the Therapeutic Academic Program (TAP), a program that has transformed students' lives. TAP offers trauma-informed classrooms and helps build skills necessary for integration in classrooms. In my role, I have successfully catered to diverse student needs and played a pivotal role in fostering a positive learning environment.

I acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Certificate in Urban and Inner-City Studies from the University of Winnipeg. These qualifications equipped me with a solid foundation of knowledge and honed my skills. My education gives me a deep understanding of urban issues and a strong commitment to community development.

My professional journey includes roles in the non-profit sector. I have developed strong interpersonal and communication skills, can multitask, and can problem-solve. I have supported Abilities Manitoba as a Summer Intern and provided mentorship and support at New Directions.

My journey is unwavering in my commitment to community empowerment, which I hold as the cornerstone of sustainable development. This passion has led me to pursue a Master's in Development Practice at the University of Winnipeg. This natural progression aligns my experience in the non-profit sector with my educational background. I aspire to deepen my knowledge, including policy analysis and environmental sustainability.

Outside my professional life, I find joy and balance in swimming, running marathons, beading, and volunteering. These activities provide me with personal fulfillment and are part of my community engagement. Nevertheless, I cherish the time I spend with my family.
