Tue. Oct. 7, 2014
The 2nd annual International Conference on Sustainable Development Practice (ICSDP) was held at Columbia University on September 17-18th, 2014, co-hosted by the Master’s in Development Practice Global Association and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Eight University of Winnipeg MDP students were accepted to present at this prestigious conference, alongside academics, development practitioners and MDP students from around the world. The eight students were: Douglas Baba, Jessica Numminen, Margaret Lewis-John, Naomi Gichungu, Naomi Happychuk, Kaitlyn Duthie-Kannikkatt, Samantha Clarke and Trudie Broderick.
The aim of the conference was to share and identify practical, evidence-based solutions that can support the SDSN leadership in shaping what is being called “The Post-2015 Agenda.” 2015 was the anticipated completion date for the Millennium Development Goals, set in 2000. With over 130 presentations, ICSDP hopes to mobilize the expertise of the scientific and technical communities in academia, civil society and the private sector. Congratulations to the UWinnipeg MDP students for their thoughtful and provocative presentations.
