Initiative for Indigenous Futures (IIF)
Jasmin Winter worked with the Initiative for Indigenous Futures (IIF), a research-network based out of Concordia University in Montreal dedicated to developing multiple visions of self-determined futures for Indigenous peoples using digital and new media tools. IIF is led by Jason Lewis and Skawennati Fragnito. Jasmin's main work involved helping to organize the third annual IIF Symposium of the Future Imaginary. This meant communicating with speakers, creating promotional material in tandem with designers, renting tech gear, generating ideas for panel themes and activities for participants, and more. In addition to this, she got to do a lot of research and writing for IIF, and even got to build on my grant writing skills for two of their applications. Jasmin also had the opportunity to travel to Toronto to present on Skawennati’s work at a conference titled “On Time Travel.”
