Chelsie Parayko's field placement was focused on The Cree Birthing: Starting Life in a Good Way project based out of Nanaandawewigamig and aims at the development of a proposal to participate in the development of the Indigenous Component of Healthy Life Trajectories Initiative (I-HeLTI) measurables. The report content includes current birthing practices, issues with this system, defining what well-being looks like to a Cree individual, historic and current ceremonial traditions, and what indicators would be utilized to determine how to measure well-being. As the research assistant Chelsie was responsible for assisting in the development, planning and facilitation of two land-based gatherings to gathering knowledge regarding Cree Birthing and the ceremonial practices. At both gatherings Chelsie was responsible for gathering data and coordination. She also participated in the development of the final presentation and final report.
