Canadian Feed The Children
In the summer of 2020, Andrea Dsouza partnered with Canadian Feed the Children to help address food security issues in rural First Nations communities across Canada. She single-handedly created a cost-benefit analysis of various indoor growing solutions for remote Indigenous communities. She presented relevant information to the partner organization, Indigenous community members and engaged stakeholders. Andrea applied the knowledge and skills gained from the first year of the MDP Program by creating resources accessible to Indigenous community members and centre their needs, interests, and experiences on this topic.
"At first, I was nervous about conducting a cost-benefit analysis as I had never done one before. However, once I approached my supervisors, I was invited to see my lack of familiarity with this framework as an advantage to unpacking the information and presenting it to communities in an accessible format. This ended up working out for me in the end! It is interesting how a weakness can be a hidden strength!"
