Indigenous Services Canada Evaluation Directorate
During Janelle Poiron’s Field Placement, she worked remotely for Indigenous Services Canada Evaluation Directorate out of their Gatineau office. Her primary project this summer was a literature review of networks, including professional, research and evaluation networks. This included looking at how networks are formed, their purposes, responsibilities and activities. This research gathered best practices that can be later used to build upon existing evaluation networks.
Janelle’s side project throughout the summer was helping another evaluation team with the start of their Child and Family Services file. She researched different reference management systems such as endnote, Zotero and Mendeley. As the evaluation is just starting, finding a suitable reference manager to input all citations and associated documents is paramount. The research will support the acquisition of documents related to the file, which can then be accessed easily by the team and external partners.
Janelle was offered the opportunity to extend her contract into the Fall semester which she accepted!
"I felt so lucky to be able to work with all of these amazingly knowledgeable and lovely people. It definitely would not have been the same experience without the support and great mentorship from the whole directorate."
