On My Way to University Series

Congratulations! You are on your way to becoming a University of Winnipeg student. Here are the steps needed to get there:

Step 1: Learn how university works.

Get started with planning your degree and learn how to select and register for your first-year classes.

Attend ONE of the following presentations:

  • Getting Ready for First Year (GRFY) – a presentation by a UWinnipeg recruiter in your high school. GRFYs take place in March and April. To register, contact your guidance counsellor.
  • First-Year Information Session (FYI) – a presentation by an academic advisor (on campus or virtual) which includes a live demonstration of WebAdvisor, our student registration system. To register, go to FYI sessions.
  • Next Steps for International Students (NSIS) – a virtual presentation by an academic advisor which includes information specific to international students. Watch for an email from International Student Services or email the office at iss@uwinnipeg.ca for more info.

*Pro Tip: Complete Step 1 before your registration start date, if possible.

Step 2: Get ready for the start of university.

You have registered for classes, now what? Get ready for the start of university! Learn what’s important to do before your classes start. Student Central is here to let you know how to prepare for the upcoming term. If you want to know about tuition fees, payments, lockers, textbooks, how to navigate campus, or even how to get a student ID card, this session has you covered. Join us on campus or online to learn about the upcoming school year and ask any questions you may have before starting UWinnipeg

Attend a Let Me Know! (LMK) presentation by a Student Central representative:
