How Physics Helped Me Reach My Potential
What do you want to be when you grow up? For some people this question is exciting. For others, it produces dread because they still don't have it figured out. A degree in physics is a pathway to a career in academia, but it doesn't have to be. Your academic journey builds many transferable skills that can be used in other workplaces. With the help of a physics degree you can reach your potential and find yourself in a fulfilling career.
BIO: Thalia received her B.Sc.H. in physics from Acadia University in 2018 and her M.Sc. in physics from the University of Western Ontario in 2020. After 6 years in the academic community, Thalia realized she did not want a career in academia. She did, however, find what she was passionate about, data. Her desire to work with data was fulfilled when she began working as a Business Specialist at SaskEnergy, the natural gas utility for Saskatchewan. Here she spends her time analyzing data, building reports, and finding improvements for 8 working groups. She absolutely loves it. This role allows her to pursue her passion while utilizing skills she learnt studying physics.
