Biography:
Joanne Boucher graduated with a B.A. in Film Studies from Carleton University in 1980. She then turned to the study of Political Science, earning a B.A. (Hons) (1986), an M.A. (1988) and a Ph.D. (1996) from York University. Her doctoral dissertation focused on conceptualizations of the patriarchal households in early modern English political thought.
Professor Boucher was the Margaret Laurence Chair in Women's Studies (University of Winnipeg and University of Manitoba) from 1997-1999. She joined the Department of Political Science at the University of Winnipeg in 1999.
Professor Boucher's research interests include early modern political thought, feminist political thought and current theoretical and policy debate concerning pornography and new reproductive technologies.
