Access to Information Overview
Manitoba's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) provide individuals with a right of access to information contained in records in the custody or under the control of designated public bodies, including the University of Winnipeg.
Under FIPPA, individuals may request access to records containing their personal information and also request correction if information is believed to be inaccurate. Individuals may also request access to general University information, such as budgets and reports. Access may be subject to limited and specific exceptions as well as the payment of fees.
Under PHIA, individuals may request access to records containing their personal health information and also request correction if information is believed to be inaccurate. Access may be subject to limited and specific exceptions as well as the payment of fees.
