Seeratpal Kaur Jaura
4th year student
Bachelor of Science (Honours) program
Applied Computer Science
Online course: Scientific Computing
Format: My class was delivered online using Zoom live sessions (for the rest of winter term after the university was closed in March). Other elements like live chat and group discussions were also carried out during and after class.
Favourite aspects: I think studying online gives more flexibility, and it saved me time travelling back and forth from home to school. But apart from the fact that I was sitting at home, my online class went basically the same way as an in-person class. I had a chance to ask questions live and after the class.
Challenges: The sudden closure of in-person classes did not provide a lot of time to prepare a plan for online study. The challenge was to find a quiet study space at home that could work for me. So, to overcome this issue, I turned one room of my house into a study space/office where I can study without being disturbed.
Advice to other students: I would suggest finding a quiet study space, prepare a schedule that works for you, and have a good internet connection so online classes run smoothly on your computer.
