Tri-Agency (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR) USRA Info and Application Session

The Research Office is hosting a presentation over Zoom that is open to eligible students and supervisors that will offer guidance and advice on how to prepare an undergraduate student research award (USRA) application for one of the three Tri-Agencies, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The UW NSERC Leader, Dr. Melanie Martin, will also be at the session to provide advice and answer questions. 

Tri-Agency Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are intended to:

  • Stimulate student interest in research;
  • Encourage students to undertake graduate studies;
  • Encourage students to consider a career in research;

Please note as part of Budget 2022, the federal government announced funding for the federal granting agencies to support targeted scholarships and fellowships for promising Black students. At present time, SSHRC and CIHR USRAs are exclusively for Black students.
