Biography:

Parvin Ghorayshi is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sociology at the University of Winnipeg. She is currently working on a number of projects including, the role of diaspora in promoting global citizenship; multi-ethnic cities and democratic urban governance; development by and for inner city communities; and, she is part of a SSHRC funded research project on community economic development that involves academics and a large number of community organizations. Her research interests include human rights and social justice, feminist theories, gender relations in developing countries, globalization, gender and social justice.
