Alumnus, Former Staff Member, UWinnipeg Supporter
Steve Coppinger is an alumnus of both The University of Winnipeg Collegiate (67) and The University of Winnipeg. After graduating with a BA in geography (71), Coppinger enjoyed a 36-year career with his alma mater, which included 18 years as associate vice-president of Finance and Administration.
An active member of the University community, he provided leadership support for the Board of Regents, the Faculty and Staff Club, United Way Campaigns, and the UWinnipeg Interfaith Pastoral Institute.
In retirement, Coppinger has maintained an extraordinary commitment to UWinnipeg: he is an active volunteer fundraiser; he has contributed immeasurably to the endeavours of The University of Winnipeg Retirees Association, in particular the establishment of the association's Scholarship and Bursary funds; and he and his wife Janet continue to give generously of their personal support, including through the Murray C. Coppinger Memorial Bursary and the Coppinger Family Award.
The University has honoured Coppinger's hard-work and generosity with the Robin H. Farquhar Award for Excellence in Contributing to Self-Governance in 1994 and Fellowship in United College in 2012.
