3rd Annual Pride Radio Marathon – May 25

CKUW 95.9fm is hosting its 3rd Annual Pride Radio Marathon on May 25th. Air time and all technical asistance will be provided for anyone in the 2SLGBTQ+ community to make radio. More information is available at ckuw.ca/pride

Pride Flag Raising – May 26

May 26 at 10 a.m.

Join your fellow UWinnipeg community members as we hoist the Progress and Two-Spirit flags on campus in celebration of Pride week. The ceremony will take place on the lawn in front of Wesley Hall. Convocation Hall will act as an alternative location in the event of inclement weather.

2-Spirit Archives Display – May 26 - 30

2-Spirit Archives Display – May 26 - May 30  - 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

The Two-Spirit Archives was established in 2019 to recognize, centre, document, and preserve the legacy of Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ people. This exhibition, located in the Library Archives, will display a few of the historic documents within the collection that highlight the stories and experiences of Two-Spirit people in Manitoba and throughout North America.

No RSVP needed.

ZINE Workshop – May 27 and May 29

May 27 and May 29 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

This free workshop will be led by queer Chinese-Canadian artist Natalie Mark, whose work is somewhere between a reflection of life and a little bit curious. They will be present to guide you through the creation of your own zine. No prior experience is required. This is a chance to express your voice, ideas, and story to create something beautiful.

CMHR Alumni Tour: Love in a Dangerous Time – May 27

May 27 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Join fellow alumni for a special tour of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights exhibit Love in a Dangerous Time: Canada's LGBT Purge. This exhibit was curated by alumnus Dr. Scott de Groot (BAH 07), who will lead the tour and discuss the development process. Love in a Dangerous Time covers one of the longest‐running, largest‐scale violations of human rights in the workplace in Canadian history.

Beading Workshop – May 28

May 28 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Join Canadice Allard from the Manitoba Métis Federation for a Pride-themed Beading Workshop in the Indigenous Student Services Centre from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Create your own fashionable bead keychain to add to your style for this year’s Pride Month.

UW Pride Parade Party – June 1

June 1 at 10 a.m.

Join us on Sunday, June 1 for the UW Pride Parade Party—a chance to come together and celebrate Pride with your UWinnipeg community! Meet up at 10 a.m. at the corner of Memorial and Portage (in front of the Buhler Centre). Just look for the giant UWinnipeg Pride banner! Snacks and cold refreshment will be provided. RSVP today – we hope you can join the party!

Drag Storytime – June 3

June 3 at 12:30 p.m. in Bernice’s Reading Room.

The library and the UWSA invite you to a special Drag Storytime to celebrate Pride! Come with family and friends for an enchanted break, and enjoy joyful, captivating stories read by three fabulous Drag Queens: Ruby Chopstix, Minokawa Song, and Artemyst. The stories will be suitable for children ages 3 to 5. The event is open to everyone, but registration is required to attend.
