Aquatic Ecology and Experimental Limnology at ELA
Wed. Apr. 5, 2017
The Ontario Universities Program in Field Biology (www.oupfb.ca) is running a 3 credit field course, Aquatic Ecology and Experimental Limnology at ELA (Experimental Lakes Area). In addition to spaces for Ontario university students, they have some spots in the course which are available to UW students. UW students who wish to enroll in the ELA course can register in BIOL 4453, Wetlands Ecosystems Field Course for Fall 2017.
ELA is located about 3 hours east of Winnipeg in the beautiful Canadian Shield. The field station has excellent accommodations and great food (for a field station). It has boats, collection equipment and lab facilities for the course and research.
The field component of the course runs from Sunday, August 20 – Friday, September 1, 2017 at ELA and final reports are due 1 month after the field course.
The cost for the course is approximately $2000 (a small subsidy may be available from UW) which includes UW tuition, room and board and access to all the equipment and course materials.
