Newly Renovated CRiCS Research Space to Open in Fall 2018
Wed. Aug. 15, 2018
After more than a year and a half of planning and renovations, the Centre for Research in Cultural Studies (CRiCS) is excited to officially open research space on campus. Funded by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Research Manitoba, and the University of Winnipeg, with additional infrastructure funding support from Dr. Mavis Reimer's Partnership Grant, Six Seasons of the Asiniskow Ithiniwak: Reclamation, Regeneration, and Reconciliation, the research space functions as a shared collaborative space for both CRiCS and the Centre for Research in Young People's Texts and Cultures (CRYTC). It is a space that enables researchers and students at the University of Winnipeg to do cultural studies work in public. It features:
- A Collaborative Research and Knowledge Mobilization Lab for workshops, cultural production, curatorial design and display, other forms of research creation, in-person meetings, and video conferencing
- A connected workspace for Research Assistants
- A shared office for the Centre's Research Coordinator
- An office space for the Centre Director
- A resource room
- An interview and data storage management room
- An office space for visiting scholars and postdoctoral fellows
The official date for a launch of this space is to be determined, but will occur during the Fall 2018 term in collaboration with researchers involved with CRYTC and the Six Seasons project.
