UWinnipeg Kinesiology Students a hit at the KIN GAMES
Team Winnipeg was a big hit during the 2014 KIN GAMES at McMaster University last month. Our team of fourteen Kinesiology students made it all the way to the playoffs in the Dodgeball competitions only to fall short at the hands of the University of Saskatchewan. They were not so fortunate in kickball, just missing out of the final 8.
The team went through the academic competitions with only two incorrect answers in the whole competition. This is especially significant given that most of our team was made up of second year students.
Students were treated to an exhibitor-like session where they could explore a whole world of graduate study possibilities. By all accounts, the seminar on Strength and Conditioning presented by Steve Lidstone was very informative and inspiring.
The best part of the event was the networking and the connections made with Kinesiology students from across Canada. As in the past, these new friends will develop into valuable colleagues as students evolve into professionals in the area.
Congratulations on a job well done!!! You represented the University of Winnipeg well!!
The planning begins for next year’s KIN GAMES to be held at the University of British Columbia!!
The Goals:
1) Send a twenty-four person team (12 male, 12 female), all kinesiology students
2) Two Captains (one male one female)
3) Top 5 finish overall, Top 3 in academics, Top 5 in dance.
The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health would like to congratulate the following Alumni on the successful completion of their CATA certification exams:
