Applying for Admission

General Information

All applications to the Faculty of Education are submitted to, and processed by, the Admissions Office. Applications are submitted online. 

How to Apply

Admission to the Faculty of Education cannot be deferred. Applicants who decline an offer of admission must apply again in the future. Subsequent admission cannot be guaranteed.

Required Documents

All documents must be originals. Copies or uncertified photocopies will not be accepted.

  • Application fee
  • Official academic records (i.e. proof of high school graduation, final transcripts (official), and post-secondary (university/college) transcripts)
  • Manitoba Education Number (Manitoba high school applicants)
  • Proof of Citizenship or Landed Immigrant status (if applicable)
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable)
  • Change of Name Verification (if applicable)
  • Course descriptions and syllabi (if courses must be evaluated for possible transfer)
  • Complete autobiography (After-Degree and Transfer applicants only*)
  • Chronological summary sheet (After-Degree and Transfer applicants only*)
  • Two letters of reference (After-Degree and Transfer applicants only*)

Deadline Dates

The Faculty of Education accepts students in the Integrated, Transfer, and After-Degree programs for the Fall term only. Students applying to the Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Education may begin their studies in the Fall, Winter, or Spring terms.

High School Deadlines

The suggested deadline to apply for the Faculty of Education is June 1.

*Qualified students with an average of 78% or higher who apply by March 1, will receive offers of admission. Between March 1-June 1, any remaining spots will be offered to: a) qualified students with 78% or higher, and then b) qualified students with less than 78% but above a determined minimum.

PBDE Applicants

  • February 1 - for courses that take place in the Spring Term (May to August)
  • May 1 - for courses that take place in the Fall Term (September to December)
  • November 1* - for courses that take place in the Winter term (January to April)

*Please note that registration for both the Fall and Winter terms begins in mid-June. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible so that they can register before courses fill.

Expanded Admission

The University of Winnipeg affirms the values of equal opportunity, equity, and social justice. In keeping with these values, the Faculty of Education has established a policy of expanded admission to help us recruit a group of education students who generally reflect the diversity of the population of Manitoba. Students who wish to be considered for Expanded Admission include an Expanded Admission Student Application Form with their application, and provide supporting documentation.

Criminal Records Check

Successful applicants will need to submit and be cleared on a formal Criminal Records Search Certificate (must include a Vulnerable Sector Search), and a formal Child Abuse Registry check before admission can be finalized. Applicants who have a criminal record should be prepared to present an official fingerprint search/disposition.
