Biography:

I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2021 with a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies and proudly joined the University of Winnipeg in the fall of 2021.

I am an inter-disciplinary policy scholar with broad interests in educational and higher educational administration. I serve our scholarly communities as Secretary of the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and as the book reviews section editor for the Canadian Journal of Educational Administration and Policy.

My academic career began as a policy economist while completing a Master’s of Agricultural Economics degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1999. After a short time in Africa I shifted focus from research in areas related to human capital, economic growth, and intellectual property to an interest in educational policy more broadly. I returned to university as an adult learner to become a teacher in rural Saskatchewan. I then worked as a researcher and administrator at Athabasca University and as a research and policy analyst with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.

It is a great privilege and honour to be part of this community in Winnipeg, which is an opportunity that I owe to the support of my three wonderful children. Thank you Aidan, Rowan, and Elsie.
