Welcome to The University of Winnipeg’s inaugural Human Resources Case Competition! We have partnered with CPHR Manitoba to bring you an exciting event that will give you and your team a chance to put your HR knowledge to the test and gain some invaluable experience working to solve real-world challenges facing organizations today.
The case for this year focuses on the “Great Resignation,” which has emerged as a top trend in HRM to describe how the pandemic is affecting workers (Stark, 2021). Employees continue to face work disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic that are increasing burnout and encouraging some workers to reconsider the centrality of work to their identities (Washington Post Live, 2021). In response, organizations are looking to find creative solutions that address employee needs by altering work features. However, this has also spurred more movement in the workforce (Stark, 2021). Many of the work adjustments occurring today will have long-term impact on the world of work (Stark, 2021), highlighting the critically important role that human resource management will continue to play in driving organizational success.
