Courtney Joshua
After completing her BA in Human Rights, Courtney obtained a Master of Arts degree in Migration and Diaspora Studies from Carleton University. She is currently completing a PhD in Anthropology and African Studies at Carleton University.
Courtney is passionate about creating space for, and engaging in, human right related research. This includes creating opportunities to collaborate with scholars and activists located in the global south who are researching in the field of Migration and Diaspora Studies.
Her recent proud moment is finishing her master’s thesis on South African women of colour living in Canada. Through her thesis, she was able to help generate understandings about a significant gap in knowledge about her own diasporic community.
