Winnipeg connection to the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2015 was awarded jointly to Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. McDonald "for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass". Winnipeg physicist Blair Jamieson worked with Art McDonald on the third phase of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) experiment which made this startling discovery. His talk will give some highlights of this extraordinary Canadian physics experiment, and the massive Super-Kamokande experiment in Japan.
