Ligands for Coordination Chemistry Incorporating Selenium
Selenium has widespread applications in functional solid materials like photovoltaics and thermoelectrics. Compared to the use of ubiquitous organophosphines, however, the use of organoselenium groups in ligands for molecular coordination chemistry and catalytic technologies remains relatively unexplored. This presentation will outline the synthesis, characterization, and d-block coordination chemistry of some pincer-type ligands featuring organoselenium groups, which have the potential to serve as single-site catalysts for improved chemical technologies.
