The event will take place on Aug 21-23 2024 in room 1L17 at the University of Winnipeg. The school will feature pedagogical lectures on gravitational waves, particle physics, and cosmology, interspersed with conference-style student research talks (preference for talk slots will be given to WITP student members). Other highlights of the event:

  • Best talk award (1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize) for student talks!
  • Wednesday Aug 21 evening social event (details TBA)
  • Thurs Aug 22 conference dinner and movie night ("Movie Night in Physics"). Tentative movie: "Particle Fever" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particle_Fever
  • Lots of coffee and cookies and opportunities to connect with out fantastic invited speakers, including:

Stephon Alexander, musician, author, physicist, and CEO, based at Brown University,

Leah Jenks, cosmologist and Kavli Fellow at the University of Chicago,

Seyda Ipek, particle physics professor at Carleton University,

Nathan Steinle, U of M postdoc in theoretical astrophysics, and

Brad Cownden, research associate at University College Dublin

We are proud to acknowledge support from the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, in addition to support from the University of Winnipeg, Brandon University, and the University of Manitoba.
