EDI Focus Groups
University of Winnipeg faculty and staff who belong to the following equity-deserving groups are invited to participate in one or more upcoming focus groups. These sessions are part of the self-assessment required by the Dimensions Program, a Tri-Agency initiative to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at postsecondary institutions. The findings of these focus groups will help to inform the drafting of a five-year EDI Action Plan for the University.
Please note there will be a maximum of 10 people per focus group. If interest exceeds capacity, we may hold additional focus groups.
The University of Winnipeg is looking for a broad range of perspectives in order to better understand systemic barriers experienced by people from the following groups:
- Monday, May 8, 1:00–2:00 p.m. - People with disabilities – Register
- Tuesday, May 9, 1:00–2:00 p.m. - Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Metis, and Inuit) – Register
- Wednesday, May 10, 1:00–2:00 p.m. - People from racialized groups* – Register
- Thursday, May 11, 1:00–2:00 p.m. - 2SLGBTQ+ people – Register
- Friday, May 12, 1:00–2:00 p.m. - Women – Register
*The Dimensions program defines “racialized group” as a “group of people categorized according to ethnic or racial characteristics and subjected to discrimination on that basis.”
Focus groups will be co-facilitated by Larissa Wodtke, Program Officer, EDI/Anti-Racism/Decolonization and Research, and Jane Shulman, a Research Associate working on UWinnipeg’s EDI self-assessment, and will take place over Zoom for approximately 1 hour each.
Any participants who are Contract Faculty are eligible to receive an honorarium for their time.
