Research Interests:

Marsha Knight first stepped on the theatre stage in the mid 1990’s. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she is Red River Metis/Ojibway with ancestors on the east side of Lake Manitoba.  As a professional actor, she has performed on local and national stages and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and continues to be an active member of the arts community.

She has worked on many, many arts-based projects with non-profit organizations, supporting community theatre, and collaborating on workshop facilitations. As well, she worked for 7 years as a Drama Facilitator in an off-campus classroom supporting female and female-identifying youth who were being sexually exploited. She has also directed various theatrical pieces and produced/wrote/directed the documentary “Winnipeg’s North End: A Food Desert” (NSI/APTN/CBC – available on CBC Gem).

Marsha is a strong advocate for ally-ship and authentic representation of the Indigenous, Black, and Persons of Colour population in all forms of live and digital media – both in front and behind the scenes.
