UWinnipeg's Annual United Way Basket Raffle

Every year, in support of United Way Winnipeg, The University of Winnipeg invites departments, faculties, and groups around campus to consider creating a gift basket centred around a theme of their choosing. These creatively constructed baskets are then raffled off, with volunteers from around campus assisting with setup, selling tickets, and much more throughout the weeklong event.

All proceeds from the annual Basket Raffle support United Way Winnipeg, which helps deliver important services to thousands of children and families throughout our community.

What is the Basket Raffle?

It is a fundraiser in support of United Way Winnipeg. Departments/faculties/groups choose a theme and create a gift basket to be raffled off. Please note that University operating funds should not be used in putting together these baskets.

When is the Basket Raffle?

The raffle generally runs in late-October or early-November.

The 2024 Basket Raffle will run from October 28 to November 1.

Where is the Basket Raffle?

The raffle is held each year in the Riddell Hall atrium.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $1.00 each. All proceeds support The University of Winnipeg’s United Way Campaign.

How many tickets will be sold?

A maximum of 5,000 tickets will be available.

What times will tickets be available for sale?

Tickets will be sold from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. daily from Monday, October 28, to Friday, November 1.

When will the winning tickets be drawn?

The draws will be held on the Friday of the Basket Raffle. Tickets are drawn beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Riddell Hall atrium.

 

Can I volunteer to help sell tickets?

Yes! Volunteers are needed to help sell raffle tickets throughout the week. One-hour shifts have been set up each day: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Please contact Tessa Pearen (204.258.3844) if you are interested in helping out with this fun event.

When do baskets need to be dropped off?

Baskets may be dropped off at the tables in the atrium on Monday, October 28, between 11:00-11:15 a.m. If you would like to deliver a basket prior to that date, please contact Tessa Pearen to make arrangements.
