Lumen: Roman Lamps and Roman Light

Lumen is a project undertaken by students in Dr. Pauline Ripat's CLAS/HIST-3006-002: Topics in Ancient History: Disability course at the University of Winnipeg in the Winter Term of 2022. Lumen explores the multisensory nature and cultural connotations of lamps and lamplight in the ancient Roman world. Through audio description, the Lumen website conveys Roman light's layered shades of meaning in a manner that aims to be accessible to all.
