Carinne with Gujarat residentsThe Tata Mundra power plant and World Bank Accountability

Come hear about this fascinating independent research study that our international practicum placement student in Human Rights program - Carinne Betournay - completed recently. She came back home from the state of Gujarat, India not so long ago and has an interesting report about her research that she led while living in Gujarat. During her stay in India, Carinne conducted interviews with local residents of Gujarat on the socioeconomic impacts of the Tata Mundra, a coal-fired power plant that was built in the state of Gujarat over the past decade. The power plant was partially funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Thus, Carinne's research examines the strengths and weaknesses of the International Finance Corporation's accountability mechanisms.

If you are planning to complete practicum placement, whether internationally or locally, our Practicum Coordinator - Ruth Taronno - will be there to answer your questions!

Do not hesitate to ASK and PARTICIPATE, the next turn might be YOURS!
