Join editor Christina Clark Kazak and contributor Shauna Labman for the Winnipeg launch of Forced Migration in/to Canada: From Colonization to Refugee Resettlement (McGill-Queen's University Press). Co-presented by The University of Winnipeg Global College.

Forced Migration in/to Canada is a critical primer from multiple disciplinary perspectives. From the earliest instances of Indigenous displacement and settler colonialism, through Black enslavement, to statelessness, trafficking, resettlement and climate migration in today’s world, contributors show how migration is differentially shaped by intersecting identities and structures. Spanning 28 chapters and the voices of 38 authors, this book is an invaluable resources for students, researchers, practitioners, journalists, and advocates.

In this Winnipeg launch, the book’s editor, Dr. Christina Clark Kazak (University of Ottawa, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs) will be in conversation with chapter author Dr. Shauna Labman (University of Winnipeg, Global College) on co-creating an accessible, bilingual book of this scope. The conversation will centre on how we intentionally centred lived experiences of displacement and Indigenous content in every chapter; created accompanying videos and open education resources; and adapted examples for a francophone audience in the French version.
