Location: 1MS25, Global College
Speaker: Dr. Houda Elmimouni, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Manitoba
Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) research offers powerful frameworks for understanding how technologies can both support and compromise fundamental human rights. Privacy, dignity, and equitable access are key examples of rights that can be advanced—or undermined—by digital design. In this talk, Dr. Elmimouni will draw from studies in the field to illustrate how prioritizing user values aligns with broader human rights considerations.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Houda Elmimouni completed her Ph.D. in 2021 at Drexel University, followed by a prestigious Computing Innovation Fellowship at Indiana University Bloomington. Her work spans Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human–Robot Interaction (HRI), emphasizing human values such as privacy, accessibility, and identity.
A pizza lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to global.college@uwinnipeg.ca by March 11.
