Local to Global Webinar
Sat. Sep. 5, 2020
The IIWR-MB's bi-annual 'Local to Global' fundraiser had to be postponed due to the pandemic. However, that has not stopped the IIWR-MB from planning an excellent evening with the guest speaker Tanya Talaga. Although it may be virtual and things may be different, this is promised to be an event to remember.
Tanya Talaga is the author of Seven Fallen Feathers, which was the winner of the RBC Taylor Prize, the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing, and the First Nation Communities Read Award: Young Adult/Adult; a finalist for the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Nonfiction Prize and the BC National Award for Nonfiction; CBC’s Nonfiction Book of the Year, Globe and Mail Top 100 Book, and a national bestseller. She is also the author of the national best seller All Our Relations: Finding the Path Forward, a compilation of her CBC Massey Lectures. For more than 20 years Tanya has been a journalist at the Toronto Star.
This is a donation-based virtual event. All money raised will go to the following important organizations and causes:
1. Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata: Future is Yours
2. Artbeat Studio Inc.: Healing and Empowerment through Creative Endeavour
3. University of Winnipeg: Global Citizenship Scholarships
