Mon. Jul. 1, 2024

Kristi Kenyon

We are excited to welcome Dr. Kristi Kenyon, Director of the Human Rights Program, back to Global College following her research leave.

Dr. Kristi Kenyon's research and teaching are informed and inspired by more than fifteen years of working in, on, and with civil society organizations in Southern Africa, South East Asia and Canada in the areas of health and human rights. Dr. Kenyon's research interests are at the intersection of health, human rights and activism. Some of her current projects include being part of the South Africa research team for a four-country study on women, development and disability, and co-leading a Ghana-based project looking at the effect of stigma on people living with a neglected tropical disease called Lymphatic Filariasis. Alongside these projects, she is also engaged in research on human rights teaching and on research ethics and methods.

Dr. Kenyon recently joined the Journal of Human Rights Practice as a co-editor, was elected Secretary of the Human Rights Section of the International Studies Association, and joined the Human Rights Cities Alliance Steering Committee.

This year, Dr. Kenyon will be teaching HR-2200-001/ HIST-2512-001: History of Human Rights in Canada (Fall 2024) and HR-4450-001/ GDP-7730: Human Rights Approaches to Health (Winter 2025).
