Athletic Therapy Students “Hurry Hard” for a Cause!
Gupta Faculty of Kinesiology and Applied Health
The University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy Students Association (aka WATSA) put on a costume curling event at the Rossmere Curling Club on Saturday, January 26th, 2013. The event was dubbed "UWATSA in da House" and raised $500 for Kid Sport, a program sponsored by Sport Manitoba. Kin Sport is dedicated to removing barriers and assisting less fortunate children to participate in sport – ‘so all kids can play.’
The curling club cost was kindly donated by Rossmere Curling Club, so all ticket sales went straight to Kid Sport. Prizes were donated by generous sponsors including the Rady JCC, the Winnipeg Jets, Booster Juice, Asham and Rossmere. Prizes were awarded to the winning team of the curling tournament the "De Curlvain's" (medical pun) and "The Uncreative Nerds" (their name not ours) – won for best costumed ensemble.
All in all, WATSA student ROCKED in a great evening of fun and physical activity for a worthy cause.
